A summarized history of Cult48, for the as-yet-uninitiated……
1. Cult48 was anonymous, and it was originally composed of 3 people.
2. Cult48 is now 1 person.
I discarded the cloak of anonymity as I had other more existential things going on. Weighty issues such as the death of my dad, some very good friends etc….. which, along with other various things, contributed to that decision.
I realized life is too short to remain anonymous and leave no traces that I had ever lived. Make. Every. Second. Count.
I took the decision to reveal my identity within Cult48, at a time when many thought Cult48 actually were Boards of Canada, or some BoC side-project.

The albums were then deleted, but not by me. Suffice to say, I determined that Cult48 would not be buried under the rubble, and released From The Ashes containing only the tracks that were made 100% by me. These were taken from Catalog 1, 1.1, Underground Signals From An Unknown Place, and the Thunder My Companion Remixes.
There is more to this, but I’m not writing about it here. Bands split. What’s done, is done.
All we have……..is right now, and Cult48 endures out of passion, and defiance.
One other thing…..whether it’s Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Kraftwerk or Boards of Canada, they have all interpreted the sum total of everything they heard before them, and augmented it to create their own signature, and laid their brick on the wall as they added to the totality of all musical expression. Cult48 is no different. I’ll leave you with a quote from a few guys you might know…..”Music has the right to children.”.
